Extenze------

So after thinking about it & instead of just waiting to have everything back together before i decided.....i decided. These bars ARE the shit! but...I'm tall enough that my back & arms say there just a hair too short. So i got with Mac daddy Mac (local hero of all things needing to be machined, at least by me) & got some 1 & 1/2 stainless, 2 & 1/2 long, stepped it on down 1/2" from the bottom to 1 & 1/4 & WALLAH, made some cool little extensions for the J. Roche bars i got off of his shovel build. Of course i'll polish everything up to make it all match but so far I'm diggin it, can't wait to see if they are actually what i was going for come final assembly time....

I love old tools!!! these are a couple of leather working tools the small one i think splits the leather & i never got to ask what the other does but you can see the 2 small wheel blades on the end of it...maybe just makes a cut or bead for the stitching? i don't know....

that customer bike in the back is warmed over vomit, but whatever....the shovel is huge..i'm 6'0 with kinda long arms and i feel small on it! let's not point out the rear end he don't give a fuck, does whatever no matter what..

Birthday Ride....

I havent been able to just go ride around and fuck off the whole day in a long while. Been couped up at work & then the shop trying to finish the Shovel before June. That's my goal anyway's...So it was my birthday & i did just that, it felt good to take advantage of the badass spring time weather. Didn't get out very far i ended up at my buddy Leonard's house where he has a shop packed full of all kinds of cool shit! When i run into a problem or idea i can't quite figure out that's who i go to, he's been turning wrench's & painting since he popped outta his mama. It's been awhile since i went & just hung out with him so i showed up & of course he's working on something so i just walked around & took pictures while he was busy.
Here's a few to look through..i took a shit load so i'll just post them here & there over the next few day's cause i'm still waiting on some stuff from powdercoaters & gotta hang lights up over the work bench before i can start in on the pretting up on the buffing wheel.

Sick...

just as soon as it gets nice & cozy outside & we get more daylight and 3 fuckin day's before my birthday it hits.... i guess I'll just spend the next few day's trying to heal up for the weekend & wishing i was at the shop with a shit load of energy, still got lot's of cleaning & buffing to do, picked up one of those bench top buffers from Harbour Freight the last trip i took shit to the powder coater. No more drill in the vice for me, that got old with those little wheels. Maybe it'll hold up, you never know when you get tools from there...you have to know what you can & can't buy from them but i love the place!
I'll probably sit here & get this wheel done even though it's not for this build, at least I'll be doing something...

Base coat....

just ended up being the main color...i got it sprayed and liked it too much to cover it up...plus really know one would expect me to do something so..uh, loud..
still got to add a few more touches to it though. Hopefully if everything goes my way I'll finish welding & grinding on the frame & get it painted or powdered by the end of next week.i still keep going back & forth on that one, we'll see.....

i was gonna try and completely finish the tank, paint and all this weekend...but i think I'll leave it alone till i can figure out what i wanna do...I'm having an artistic block. probably just keep it simple.......What i used to think was pretty cool & timeless has (as with all good things)blown the fuck up & I'm sick of seeing it! HAHAHA!

El Manual Labor....

is about to show up! broke it down for the last time (hopefully) time to start massaging the frame into some loving smoothness! We'll see how long that takes ....never used filler before, we shall see. The place i sent my motor too for the bottom end surgery said turnaround time is 30 day's so hopefully when it gets back I'll be able to bolt it down for good!! Gettin real antsy now... Just really hittin the rough spots, hack job on the neck and other little places here and there. Lot's of sanding & polishing to do still...boring non-entertaining work but it'll be worth it!!

stupid technology...

after the little woopsy doo the lap top took it ain't really worth a shit. can't load or compress pics of anything. and why's it soooooo sloooooow......?, time for a new one i guess. bout ready for the swing arm to go to powder coater with a few other little shit.decided to mold and paint the frame myself along with the tank. still gotta re lace the front hub when i get the rim back from powder (that oughtta be a blast!) any pointers? send'em my way! threw that seat on there just for giggles....hmmmmm

PROGRESS??

There's not any. well none worth showing anyways.. been to hectic around here. The band, birthday's & work is screwy right now. it's been a weird 2 weeks. but it was good to be away from thing's for awhile. did some soul searching. i do the same thing with songs, I'll start the first verse off with some idea or feeling and go right into the first of the chorus, then BAMM! nothing. And then when i least expect it, when I'm not thinking or trying it finishes itself. I almost fucked up and did what i don't do. Forced shit to move forward & make progress. I lost sight of what made this bike me, lost track of what i set out to accomplish. A big thing was ground clearance.ditched the fender supports & fender for now...I'll move on with the rest of it with out giving 2 thoughts about it till I'm close to being done. It'll work itself out in the end. I drive people all around me crazy because I'm not a " time is money" kind of dude. I hate being pressured for time or deadlines. I'll sit & stare/think about it till i see what I'm searching for. And I could give a shit less about money!, but i understand it controls the universe. Sooo...what does all this mean? Have no idea. Just waiting for a few parts & then thing's will be back on track. Stay tuned......pics to come
